Monsanto's genetically engineered sweet corn is the first genetically engineered crop designed to go directly from the field to your plate, and its coming to a grocery store near you. Developed to actually produce pesticide and resist herbicides, it has not been tested for human safety, but it will be sold unlabeled on grocery store shelves around the country.

As the largest grocery store chain, Walmart will set the trend for other food retailers. By refusing to turn their customers into human guinea pigs by selling them untested GE sweet corn, grocery stores can take an important step forward in protecting Americans from genetically engineered foods.
