The Issue

My name is Ahmed Gulahmad. I have been an iFixandRepair franchisee since 2013, and my network includes 379 locations inside Walmart. I work with the independent operators who run these businesses through our franchise and subleasing arrangements.

Together, we have invested our money, time, and effort into opening these locations, serving customers, and building businesses that support our families.

We have been told that, if the proposed transition to The Fix goes ahead, rents would increase, operators would be required to purchase merchandise through The Fix, rent-payment arrangements would change, and stores would require changes to their fixtures and furnishings. We have also been told that our existing business arrangements would be replaced and that operators who refuse the new terms could be removed from their stores.

These are not just changes on paper. They could put years of investment, established business relationships, and families’ livelihoods at risk.

Operators who have spoken with me oppose these changes and want to continue working with my company. They deserve to be heard before decisions are made about their future.

Supporting small businesses should mean more than helping a store open. It should also mean listening to the people who invested in that store and worked every day to keep it running.

We ask Walmart to:
1. Reconsider the proposed transition to The Fix affecting these locations. Please do not approve arrangements that would displace our existing businesses and operator relationships. If related assignments have already been approved, please reconsider them in light of these concerns.

2. Meet with the affected operators, Zahir Isali, and me. Hear directly from the people whose businesses and livelihoods are affected before further changes are implemented.

3. Work with us toward a solution that protects the existing stores and operators. Please consider the wishes of operators who want to continue working with G&G under our existing arrangements, with the relevant agreements properly addressed.

Affected operators, employees, customers, family members, and members of the public are welcome to sign in support of these requests. Participation is voluntary.

Please sign to help us be heard and protect the livelihoods behind these stores.
