Please Do Not Build a Walmart Super Center at Oakwood Commons
The Issue
First Interstate Properties declared on February 21. 2012 in a Plain Dealer article that the deal to build a Walmart Super Center at Oakwood Commons is "not yet finalized".
By signing below, I am stating my opposition to the construction of a Walmart Super Center at the proposed Oakwood Commons shopping center in South Euclid, Ohio.
I believe that a local economy provides the community with the necessary financial and social support for balanced economic growth. I am convinced that having a Walmart Super Center will be a detriment to our community. The construction of a Walmart Super Center at Oakwood Commons will reduce local business viability, most importantly of independent grocers Dave's, Zagara's, and Heinen's, union employers providing jobs with justice, and each located within a 2 mile radius of the proposed Walmart. Indeed it will surely impact union food workers at Giant Eagle, a South Euclid employer.
Additionally, I believe that a Walmart Super Center at Oakwood Commons will cause irreparable environmental and economic damage to the region.
