The Issue

On July 26, a man entered a Walmart in Traverse City, Michigan, and began randomly stabbing shoppers. Eleven people were injured—some critically.

But thanks to the quick, courageous actions of several customers, the attacker was stopped. Witnesses say bystanders surrounded him, one drew a firearm, and together they tackled and detained the suspect until police arrived—likely preventing even more lives from being lost.

Walmart has acknowledged the incident and offered support to employees—but the company has yet to publicly recognize the customers who stepped in to protect others inside its store.

We’re calling on Walmart leadership to formally honor the individuals who helped stop the attacker. Whether through public recognition, a statement of gratitude, or a charitable donation in their names, their actions deserve more than silence.

In a time when acts of violence are far too common, acts of courage and selflessness must not go unnoticed—especially when they happen on your property.

Tell Walmart: Recognize the brave customers who helped detain the knife attacker in Michigan. Their actions saved lives. They deserve your thanks.
