KEEP THE AMNION PREGNANCY CENTER OUT OF THE WALLINGFORD-SWARTHMORE PUBLIC SCHOOLS

It recently has come to light that the Amnion Pregnancy Center of Drexel Hill has been permitted into Strath Haven High School sex education classes, to preach their religious-based, anti-choice message of abstinence until "marriage" and sexual "purity". We believe that Amnion should have no role whatsoever in the sex education curriculum of Wallingford-Swarthmore Public School students. Their presence improperly promotes religion in the public schools. Moreover, Amnion delivers a dangerous and for most teenagers, ineffective message of abstinence until marriage. Amnion does not discuss STDs or birth control options with students. Only abstinence until "marriage".
The over-riding purpose of the Amnion Pregnancy Center, based on its own description, is to act as a teen pregnancy "crisis center". The amnion.org website is replete with religious psalms. Aminion is a church-based organization, and the only option it offer for teenagers who become pregnant is that they carry a pregnancy to term. This message ignores the options that students of the Strath Haven community have under the laws of this Commonwealth and the United States. If you agree with us that Amnion Pregnancy Center has no place in the WSSD Public Schools, we appreciate your support and your signature below. Thank you.
