Southwest Raleigh is a vibrant, diverse and engaged district in Wake County. We were outraged by the recent decision to close our Community Library without community input.

Due to overwhelming public support, we expect continued discourse with Wake County Libraries, Wake County Commissioners and Wake County Public Schools over previously agreed upon improved signage, public accessibility, parking and children’s programming.

Our neighborhood library needs to be fully staffed with expanded hours in order to meet the five priorities dictated by the Wake County Library System which include:

    - Services to children 
    - Recreational reading 
    - Being a center of lifelong learning 
    - The library as community center 
    - Bridging the technology gap
