This petition is on behalf of the entire community of Pacific Palisades. 

I'm petitioning from the heart of ruins, once my beloved home. A precious sanctuary built through sweat, hard work and love for my community, all turned to ashes in the recent disastrous January fires. Every last piece that breathed my past is now erased. Thousands of homes fell prey to these fires, mine among them.

We, the residents of the beautiful Pac Pal community, are resolute in rebuilding our hometown again, in turning grief-stricken ashes back into our sanctuaries, but we are facing an immense obstacle, among myriad of other hurdles, which is the building permit fees imposed by L.A. Building and Safety Department (LABSD.)

We have all paid the permit fees for our burnt or damaged homes. We paid either directly at the time of construction - as I did - or indirectly through the purchase price as the house came with a permit.

Were it not for the unfortunate mishandling of multiple agencies, we would not be subjected to these prohibitive and punishing fees, again (the average permit fees run upward of tens of thousands $$$$). 

The LABSD's permit fees, in this circumstance, are a severe blow to those of us trying to rebuild from the life-changing catastrophe we had no control over. We don't deserve to face this financial barricade while coping with the calamity of losing our homes.

We need immediate action! We need the LABSD to waive these permit fees, just as was done in the Woolsey and Northern California fires.
