Help us halt a $330 Waikoloa Village Association dues INCREASE

Help us halt a $330 Waikoloa Village Association dues INCREASE
The Issue
This past Tuesday, October 25th, the Waikoloa Village Association Board voted to increase the 2017 dues of the members of the WVA by $330 and increase dues by 2.5% each year thereafter ($980 in 2018, $1004 in 2019, and so on). This increase is to fund our reserves for renovations to the pool in 2017 and the golf course in 2024. The audited financial statements of the Waikoloa Village Association show a $1.6 million surplus at the end of 2016 in the reserve fund that is designated for future major repairs and replacements.
This $330 increase will be a financial hardship for many village homeowners. The increase is premature without knowing the final cost for the pool renovation and obtaining approval from the members for a $6 million golf course renovation. Fiscal control could also alleviate the nearly $500,000 yearly operating loss on the golf course and the ballooning budget increases (4.3% overall budget increase and 6.1% salary increase in 2016).
We, the undersigned members and residents of Waikoloa Village, petition the Waikoloa Village Association Board to halt the 2017 dues increase of $330 and explore other options for raising funds for future renovations.
Please sign this petition and voice your opinion by attending the WVA Board Meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 1, at 5:30 PM in the WVA Community Room.
