The oldest, one of the most successful and well supported club in WAFL history has been cruelly disallowed a spot on TV, just because of a sponsorship deal. Channel 7, who have been given rights to air one WAFL game per round for the 2015 season and beyond have decided to take them off live television thanks to the Falcons sponsorship of rival network Channel nine on there jumper. This has now escalated into WAFL clubs voting them out of the finals for allegedly putting the "Game into disrepute". This is a gross over reaction over something so simple as a sponsorship deal. It's comical to also think that when the ABC covered the game they made no issue over any sponsorship issues, as East Perth even wore sponsorship that advertised Channel 7. This issue is hurting the WAFL too. Television is one of the only ways the WAFL can convey and advertise the game, and without West Perth on TV the ratings are decreasing. They've even threatened not to televise finals involving the club. This will seriously hurt the competition if it does eventuate. Hopefully, the WAFC can open there eyes and see the damage they are creating. Support this petition and we might see much needed change.
