Hi everyone!

My name is Shahad Almoayyad, and I’m a 1L at Detroit Mercy Law running for Vice President of the Student Bar Association. I’m originally from Saudi Arabia, and after moving to the United States, I lived in Texas before eventually moving to Michigan. I later attended Michigan State University, where I studied Psychology.

Moving between different places and meeting people from so many different backgrounds has taught me how important it is to feel welcomed, included, and heard. Those experiences, along with my background in leadership and volunteering are a big part of why I want to be involved in SBA.

Law school is a huge adjustment for all of us, and I want to help make our experience feel more connected and supportive. As Vice President, I would work with the rest of SBA to listen to student concerns, advocate for students, help organize events that bring our community together, and make sure people feel comfortable sharing their ideas.

I can’t promise to make Civ Pro less confusing, but I can promise to listen to you.

I would really appreciate your signature and support so I can run for Vice President! And if you see me around school, please come say hi I’d love to get to know you! 🫶🏻
