COMMUNITY PETITION OF NO CONFIDENCE

We, the undersigned members of the Randolph County Schools community have

NO CONFIDENCE

In the Randolph County Schools Board of Education made up of:

Phil Chua, Sherri Collett, Janie Newlon, Charles “Ed” Daniels

The Reasons for this petition are not limited to the following:

• Failure to make an effort to balance the budget when a clear solution was available
• Potential Unsafe learning environments (i.e. PRO Officers, Asst. Principals)
• Lack of educational opportunities for Randolph County students 
• Potential loss of resources to mitigate social and emotional issues (i.e. CIS, Counselors)
• Potential loss of school nurses
• Potential loss of extra-curricular activities
The community calls for the resignation of the complicit School Board Members who failed to perform their elected duties as a Board of Education. 

Details of Charges:

• Failure to balance budget
o The board knowing violated West Virginia Code §18-9B-6 that requires county boards of education to prepare a budget for the next fiscal year
• Potentially Creating unsafe learning environments
o Board Members knowingly voted in a manner that could result in schools losing funding for PRO Officers and Assistant Principals across the county.
• Lack of educational opportunities for Randolph County students
o Board members knowingly voted in a manner that could result in schools losing funding for professional positions, reducing the number of electives and higher level course offerings at the secondary level. 
• Potential Loss of Social and Emotional resources
o Board members knowingly voted in manner that could result in schools losing funding for positions that directly address the social and emotional well-being of students daily (i.e. Communities in Schools, Counselors, Social Workers)
• Potential Loss of School Nurses
o Board members knowingly voted in a manner that could result in a loss of funding for school nurses across the county. 
• Potential Loss of extra-curricular activities
o Board members knowingly voted in a manner that could result in schools losing funding for extra-curricular activities (i.e. Band, Athletics, Theater, Clubs)
