Vote NO to Supportive Housing at Cambie Road and Sexsmith Road in Richmond, BC
Vote NO to Supportive Housing at Cambie Road and Sexsmith Road in Richmond, BC
The Issue
As residents of Richmond, BC, we are deeply concerned about the proposed rezoning of Cambie Road and Sexsmith Road for a supportive housing facility(https://letstalkhousingbc.ca/richmond-cambie-sexsmith). This decision affects all of us, especially those living nearby. Families, including those with young children and elderly relatives, could face increased safety concerns, disruptions, and pressure on local services.
This isn’t just about policies or numbers—it’s about our daily lives and keeping our loved ones safe. We've already had issues with similar facilities. The temporary supportive housing at Alderbridge and Elmbridge Ways led to more break-ins and overdoses, affecting local businesses and residents. If another facility is built at Cambie Road and Sexsmith Road, we could see the same problems and it will hurt the safety of our community.
We understand that individuals struggling with homelessness need support and help. And this petition is by no means against that in any way. However, we also believe that placing one in our neighborhood might not be the best choice. The concerns raised regarding increased crime and safety issues should be taken seriously.
We urge you to reconsider this decision for the sake of Richmond residents' safety and well-being. Please sign this petition if you share these concerns.
