Here is a quick recap and updated talking points to the Golden City Council.
On July 11, 2023, the Golden City Council conducted a first reading about the proposed flavored vaping ban. We had 25 fantastic witnesses speak for three minutes before the Golden City Council.
Since July 11, 2023, hundreds of vaping customers, store owners, and vape shop employees have been contacting to the Golden City Councilors to ask them to amend the proposed flavored ban ordinance with an amendment that would allow only 21-age-restricted-stores to sell flavored vaping products in Golden, Colorado.
Your advocacy efforts have made an impact. A couple of the Golden City Councilors are considering amending the flavor ban with a 21-age-restricted-stores amendment.
We still have our work to do!
During the next three days, please contact every Golden City Councilor and ask them to amend the proposed flavor ban ordinance with a 21-age-restricted-stores amendment.
The Golden vape shop owners have been collecting petitions from customers. The petitions will be presented to the Golden City Council on July 25 at 6:30pm.
Finally, we hired Matt Moseley, a Communications and Public Relations professional. Matt has worked with us before.
During the last couple of weeks, Matt has been mobilizing social media to ask Golden residents to contact their Golden City Councilor, writing op-eds in the local Golden newspaper, and scheduling local TV stations from CBS, NBC, ABC, and Fox to interview the Golden City Councilors about why they are destroying small businesses.
