As you know, on October 26, the Denver City Council Committee on Safety, Housing, Education, and Homelessness (Committee) delayed the discussion of the proposed Denver vaping flavor ban for further discussion.

The next committee hearing will occur on November 17 at 10:30am.  After the November 17 committee meeting, the full 13-member, Denver City Council will host two meetings (1st reading and 2nd reading) in late November or early December.  Exact dates TBD.  All meetings at held at the Denver City Council chambers at 1437 Bannock Street in Denver on the 4th floor.

We need you to attend the November 17th meeting either in-person or by webinar.  If public testimony is allowed to be heard, please sign up at 9:00am on November 17 at the following website:

There will be at least three amendments offered during the next committee hearing on November 17.  There will be our age-restricted amendment; an amendment to cap the closing time for hookah bars (either 12am or 2am) and allow only 21+ customers to enter the hookah bar, and an amendment that would allow convenience stores to sell menthol cigarettes. There are multiple lobbyists and groups advocating for these amendments.

We are only concerned about the age-restricted amendment.

It has become clear that we need to focus our sole attention on a select number of Denver City Council members who are either undecided or who have been influenced by our message to support an age restricted amendment.  Between now and November 17, we need you to ask all of your customers and employees to send 1,000 emails and calls to the following Denver City Council Members.

When you email and call the Council Members below, please be respectful, bold, and consistent in your message that without an age restricted amendment to the current flavor ban, your business will be destroyed, you will layoff employees, Denver will not receive millions of dollars of tax revenue, and most importantly, responsible adults will lose a valuable tool to quit smoking more harmful cigarettes.  That is why the CDC said 4.6 million adults have used flavored vaping products to quit smoking more harmful cigarettes.  Also emphasize that your store has multiple safety precautions, such as strict ID check, to prevent sales to youth.
