VOTE NO CONFIDENCE AND DEMAND SUPERINTENDENT ALEXANDRA ESTRELLA TO RESIGN

VOTE NO CONFIDENCE AND DEMAND SUPERINTENDENT ALEXANDRA ESTRELLA TO RESIGN
The Issue
SAVE OUR SCHOOLS!!
As a taxpayer and parent with children in the Norwalk school system, I am deeply concerned about the recent actions of the Norwalk Board of Education. Last week state and local officials managed to allocate $6 million to help bridge the deficit for the Norwalk Board of Education. It seemed like a step forward and promised stability for our schools.
However, on Tuesday, June 10th, the Board voted 9-0 agreeing to terms including delaying the superintendent Alexandra Estrella’s contract extension to fiscal year 2026-2027, a decision that was publicly welcomed. Yet, on Wednesday, June 11th, 2025, BOE Chair Diana Carpio, with Estrella’s collaboration, made moves to alter these terms, seeking to expedite her contract extension this current fiscal year, despite unanimous vote from the Board of Education
This sudden shift not only undermines the consensus reached but also raises severe concerns about the impact on our staff, children, and parents who are all affected by such instability. Changing course from a decision that affects so many lives erodes trust and hurts our community.
Superintendent Estrella's tenure has not brought the promised positive change to our educational system. There are reports and complaints of mismanagement and negative impacts on the school environment, affecting both students and teachers alike. It is troubling to see a rapid pivot that prioritizes contracts over educational quality and stability
We are asking the Norwalk Board of Education to vote no confidence in Superintendent Alexandra Estrella and demand her resignation. We, as taxpayers payers, want to not disrupt the ongoing efforts guided by the $6 million funding infusion. Let's focus on our primary goal: the educational success and wellbeing of Norwalk's students not the blatant greed and self interest of the Superintendent.
Let’s hold our educational leaders accountable for their promises and ensure our taxpayer dollars are spent wisely for the benefit of our children's future. Sign this petition to demand that our local officials uphold their commitments and prioritize what truly matters: quality education for Norwalk students.
