Vote for Maria Tarakhovsky for SBA Vice President
The Issue
My name is Maria Tarakhovsky and I am running for Vice President of the Student Bar Association for the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law.
I enter my 1L year with high value professional experience and community work experience. I know what real pressure and responsibility looks like, and my priority as your Vice President is to be efficient, solution-oriented, and uncompromising in integrity.
From Capitol Hill to International Humanitarian Aid Management, my 8 years of service to and collaborations with advancing educational access and access to aid has accumulated over $800,200,000.00 in funds.
In undergrad, Student Government leadership was a priority. Planning conferences, hosting events, lobbying for funding, creating opportunities and access to resources, and aiding in university hiring decisions was incredible and fulfilling. I would step into the role of VP with the energy needed to advance us all.
Additionally, my legal experience in litigation and trial work has accumulated over $2 million in settlements from 2024-2026 for Personal Injury clients.
The goal as your Vice President is to analyze any needs, obstacles, bottlenecks, and ideas brought to SBA to support the SBA leadership in representing each and every one of you, and handle what needs to happen along the way.
It is exciting that we are all one step closer to achieving a Juris Doctor. This path is challenging; as a leader, I am in this boat with you all to navigate law school with the right background to balance the responsibility in representing you and being a student.
I can promise that I will be an avid listener, open to your perspectives, and appropriately creative in achieving our needs as a student body. My passion for getting the job done and handling the situation will tangibly reflect well on all of us as future lawyers; I’d be honored to have the opportunity to play a significant role in our collective goal for success.
My record speaks for itself. A vote for me is a vote for all of us: I will push our law school to new heights and put us on the map. Vote Maria for VP :)
