Vote down APS’s current proposal to repurpose Nottingham Elementary

The Issue

We are Arlington residents who urge the Arlington County School Board to vote down APS’s current proposal to repurpose Nottingham Elementary into swing space. We believe that APS has rushed into this proposal without considering important criteria, including the centrality of the proposed swing space, the effect of its proposal on traffic and pedestrian safety, and the impact its proposal will have on teachers, staff, and children across Arlington. We also believe that APS has also failed to engage with the communities that will be impacted by its recommendation, most notably, the school communities that will use Nottingham as swing space in the future. We want the Board to instruct the Administration to re-examine the available options and come back to the Board with a transparent proposal that is the product of community engagement and is supported by all relevant data.
