The Issue

As a resident of Foristell, I am deeply concerned about the planned construction of data centers in our community. This region, known for its lush greenery and serene landscapes, is on the brink of transformation into a hub of industrial activity that threatens our environment and quality of life.

Data centers, although technologically essential, consume massive amounts of energy and require substantial water resources for cooling. The environmental toll is significant, contributing to heightened carbon emissions and potential water shortages in an area that has historically been dependent on its natural resources. According to a report by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), data centers in the United States alone account for nearly 2% of the country's electricity consumption. This projected increase in energy demand in Foristell could lead to higher electricity rates for local residents.

Moreover, the construction and operational phases will likely lead to increased noise pollution, traffic congestion, and potential risks to local wildlife, disrupting the rural tranquility that we cherish. This change does not align with the values of our community or the desires of the families who have chosen to make their homes here.

The local government and planning authorities must consider alternative locations that are better suited to handle the infrastructure requirements of these facilities without compromising our community's character or environmental health. There are numerous industrial areas within Missouri that would be more appropriate for such developments.

I urge my fellow residents to stand united against this project. By voicing our concerns and providing feedback to the city council, we can collectively make a difference. Let us protect our way of life and hold our elected officials accountable to prioritize the long-term well-being of Foristell.

Sign this petition to demand that our local government vote against the construction of data centers in Foristell and reconsider their plans for development. Together, we can preserve the peace and charm of our beloved community.
