Recess provides social learning experiences that our children cannot get elsewhere. At recess, our children practice their gross motor skills, conflict resolutions skills, and communication and compromising skills; additionally, they are afforded the chance to collaborate their best creative and imaginative selves. Our kids are given the opportunity to practice teamwork and empathy via free play. We are living in a world where communication, teamwork, and empathy are integral to success, and robbing our kids of recess is preventing them from developing these skills. 

These are children! Our children are not neurologically wired to sit and pay attention for extended periods of time, and many behavioral problems could be avoided by providing recess.
