The Issue

The world's biggest celebrities and fashion designers partner to curate outfits related to the Met Gala's yearly themes. In 2020, the theme should be related to climate change, in which the outfits are created with sustainable brands and using recycled or raw materials.

The Met Gala is one of the most prominent events in the world and involves celebrities with the power to generate change. All that attention could help spread awareness not only in the fashion industry but globally.

According to the UN: "The fashion industry, including the production of all clothes which people wear, contributes to around 10% of global greenhouse gas emissions (...) The industry consumes more energy than the aviation and shipping industry combined".

Sonia Carrasco —founder of sustainable fashion brand of the same name (@soniacarrascoofficial on Instagram)—said: "(...) apart from creating our own sustainable fashion brand, we have to re-educate the consumer to reduce overconsumption and minimize the carbon footprint of the fashion industry".

This idea was already in my head, but she prompted me to take action as you should too!

We only have 18 months to save the Earth from climate change, not 12 years as it was thought before. TIME'S UP, it's our turn to mend humanity's mistakes.
