To: President Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin,

On behalf of all the children of the world, 

We make this one request:

Please, use all the power at your command, all the strength of your character, all the wisdom gathered through your experience, all the intelligence granted to you by your excellent education, and most of all, the compassion and love you possess as a good father and a husband, to take a step back and call off this war. Whatever the goals of this conflict may be, we are certain you can achieve by diplomacy. 

The children of 21st century are no longer citizens of individual nations, rather they are members of a larger family, inextricably bound by ties of friendship and kinship all over the globe. What ails one child in Moscow, pains another in London, what hurts one in Kiev, torments another in New York. All the children of the world belong to one mother Earth and it behooves all to remember that adults, are but guardians of the most valuable treasure they possess - their progeny.

So please Mr. Putin, for the sake of all the children that will inevitably suffer and die from war, for all the mothers who will cry inconsolable tears for their loss, please call back your  army and instead deploy a legion of diplomats to work out an amicable peace. 

Dostoyevsky wrote, “compassion is the chief law of human existence.” 

We call upon your compassion. 

Please, do the greatest, most difficult, and most honorable thing….put an end to this war.
