It’s been nearly 10 months (if not more) since we’ve been able to have any form of physical contact (hugs and kisses with our loved ones) who are currently incarcerated. Inclusive of kids!! Kids have not been able to hug their dads in this long either. And if they are caught doing so they are issued a ban for 28 days of absolutely no visitations. How is that a crime?! It’s disgraceful. 

We have abided by these so called covid rules for so long but now, it’s taken a toll with no end in sight (did I mention WA had no Justice covid plan written like the other states?).  

The rest of us are moving on on the outside, we have no mandates, no masks (unless necessary) etc but yet we are only allocated a day a week (if we are lucky; mostly fortnightly!) to see our LOs and too bad if you have to work! The phones never work either so communication is almost zilch.  

No one will give us an answer to any of our questions when we contact the minister as to WHY this is still in place.. except it’s due to covid and they are protecting their mental health and don’t want them locked up for 10 days (we are only isolating for 7!!) at a time. 

It’s simply not true, there is NO mental health support, NO education support and NO covid support so why is that being used for an answer?

And they lock them up ANYWAY!! It’s simply not good enough anymore and causing unnecessary mental health problems to the prisoner and their families. If I shared you the stories it would break your heart. 

COVID has done its course, winter is at its end. ITS TIME TO GET BACK TO NORMAL BILL JOHNSTON. enough is enough. It’s heartbreaking the problems this is causing LONG term.
