Today Visalia Unified School School District notified the families of graduating seniors that they will not be holding a traditional ceremony for the class of 2020. It is aware that it is currently unsafe nor wise to hold a ceremony, however it is unfair for students that have waited and worked hard their entire lives so they can walk across the stage and receive their diplomas alongside their peers. There are other districts across California in which are informing their graduates that they will be receiving a traditional in-person graduation once is it safe to do so. Fresno Unified School District which is not too far from our area , has committed to giving graduates TWO graduations. The Fresno Unified class of 2020 students will be receiving a virtual graduation ceremony for now & a traditional in-person ceremony once is it safe to gather in significant groups . It is only right , that the Visalia Unified School District is willing to provide the same for our seniors .
