Pass HB 930 Standards of Learning Reform

The Issue

  • We feel the SOL's have taken away the creativity of our children.  The US prides themselves on the fact that our children think outside the box and standardized testing has taken away their creativity.  They have traded teaching our children to properly sign their names  for teaching to take test. Instead of experiencing the beauty of what it is to learn and experience life and education, they are limiting them.

    These tests also stunts their growth as potential scholars and makes them into "cookie cutter" learners.  The school systems are removing the arts for more graduation requirements.  The current demands that education is placing on students leaves no room for extracurricular activities.

    The closing of schools due to budgeting is affecting learning because of overcrowding, less familiarity, and loss of the intimacy of with their educators.  The unnecessary stress that is now being placed on teachers for tenure limits the teachers to teach just the the tests and not life.  It also stifles their teaching because they have a plan that they must follow.
