I just wanted to wish you all a great Thanksgiving holiday and update you on what is happening with the efforts to obtain the right to parole for Kelly. I can't shake the feeling that something is in the air, that there will be an answer from the Governor soon. As he has only a single year left in office, I am certain that he will give an answer soon. I ask you to say a prayer for Kelly and to remember her this Thanksgiving.
God has been present throughout this process and I can tell you that He does answer all prayers, even if the answer is no. But I believe that He has a purpose for Kelly and that she cannot meet her destiny while she is incarcerated. And so I ask you to say a prayer asking for Kelly Dara be allowed to apply for parole so that she can return home to her family. I believe that she has earned that privilege.
I believe this because I know her heart. I don't know who she was at age 17, but I know the woman that she is today. She has grown, she has matured, and she has transformed her life and her heart and I can tell you for a fact that God never made a better woman. So if you find a little quiet time where you can say a quick prayer, I would appreciate it if you could speak a few words on her behalf to the Almighty.
On December 2nd I will ask you to write an email to Governor McAuliffe so that he doesn't forget her. There are a great many such requests that come to the Governor's office and the requests for clemency rely heavily on politics for success. That is why we cannot be silent. But today we take a moment to remember our many blessings during the year. To reflect on the lessons that we have learned. And to remember our families and our place in their heart.
Have a very happy and safe Thanksgiving!
Bill
