Virginia allows hunters with dogs equipped with radio collars to chase bears during this season. Nursing mothers are chased away from their Cubs who often starve to death. The bears are traumatized for no other reason or purpose than human enjoyment. No understanding of life cycle, habitat, or the ways of the bear required. Hunting bears with radio collared dogs is cruel enough. Chasing them for fun is just evil. In this day, who would allow such cruelty? It should be illegal to hunt with radio collared dogs period; much less this kind of cruelty. Make them hunt like deer hunters who know the deer’s way,sit in camouflage for hours,only pick the appropriate deer. The bear is a sacred animal,with the intelligence of a child, who if it is to be hunted should be done without this unconscionable terror and cruelty, an order of magnitude worse than fox hunting. It is a stain on Virginia.
