Tonight, the Arlington County Board voted unanimously to make the Robert Ball Sr. Cemetery in Ballston, Virginia, a Arlington County Historic Landmark! This ensures the preservation of the cemetery and will link the historic site with both Arlington County and the Ballston Central Methodist Church.
I spoke to the County Board, as well as did six other people. Here is what I said,
"After 6 months, we are near the end of this one journey, to preserve the Robert Ball Sr burial ground and their legacy, which was passed on to the Central Ballston Methodist Church 111 years ago!
I applaud the congregation of the Methodist Church for their courage of faith and history to honor those who rest on their grounds.
I applaud the Ball family for embracing their past to ensure it will survive,
I applaud the Ballston Civic Association and the Arlington Historical Society for their support.
And I applaud those in the planning division, historic preservation division, the HALRB, and the County Board for their efforts to accurately portray the history of the site and develop an appropriate plan for historic preservation yet keep intact the project that will help so many in the community.
If you respect the cultural past, you enhance the cultural future!"
With that accomplished, I will submit this petition as a success and close it out!!!!!!!!
