Virginia Commonwealth University and GRTC: Stop charging students $50-$100 for bus passes that were previously FREE!
VCU's student body is mostly made up of students who DO NOT live on campus. Richmond's raised the rates on street parking. They've added new parking meters that previously weren't there that don't work most of the time. VCU's raised the rates for their parking garages. Now, they're going to start charging students $50-$100 for bus passes depending on their enrollment status. I've been at VCU since Fall 2010 and they were FREE to students who were enrolled full time since I started school here. We already pay VCU enough to attend school here... we shouldn't have to pay so much just to GET TO CLASS.
In order to see this change, go here: http://www.parking.vcu.edu/vcupark/StudentGRTC.htm
Alternatively, you can go to parking.vcu.edu and then click "Purchase GRTC Parking Pass." Then, you'll have to sign in with your eID. After that, you should see the information about the new charges.
