Let's get back school bus assistants!!!!

Friday, September 22nd, 2017 I received a phone call from Woodstock Elementary informing me that my kindergartner was marked absent from school over an hour after I had put her on the bus to head to school. As a parent every possible scenario ran through my head. In a panic, I called the school to see if it was an error on their side.  I was told by the assistant principle that my child was found on the school bus in the parking lot at a Wal-Mart, by some off duty employees. She was crying, hot and trying to get help off of the bus. I have never in my life been so scared and helpless. I was all the way in Chesapeake Virginia and my baby was in a parking lot all the way in Virginia Beach. The bus driver claimed she didn't know she was still on the bus, but I know if we went back to having bus assistants this whole nightmare could have been avoided. We need an extra pair of eyes on the bus when it comes to elementary school aged children. Let's make sure no other parent goes through an experience like this ever again.
