Runnymede Corp owns 3+ acres on Sentara Way. Checkered Flag wants to purchase this wooded acreage and cut it down to build a car dealership. This wooded area provides a natural sound barrier for the neighborhood that backs up to it. It is also a wildlife habitat to red tail hawks, fox, raccoons etc. Removal of this forestry would only add to the already serious flooding problem of the adjacent neighborhoods. It sits between an existing car lot and an assisted living/hospice facility that has multiple dementia patients to which loud noises can be very detrimental to their well being. The existing car lot already brings traffic, noise, litter, bright lighting and an excessively loud recorded message security system that can be heard at all hours of the night. Checkered Flag is the owner of the existing car lot so we have no reason to believe this car lot will be any different. Only 3 homes were notified in this neighborhood concerning the proposal.
