Hello supporters.  My name is Levanda and I’m Michael’s Mom.  Firstly, a huge thank you to every one of you who has signed this petition to support my son’s fight for justice.  Now I need you to take urgent action and share this petition with all your friends and family to help raise the profile of my son’s case.

The fight is not over, I need your help!

My son has spent nearly 10,000 days behind bars for being 100% INNOCENT!  I desperately need your help to get my son home to his family where he belongs.

From birth, Michael was a very smart and intelligent young boy. He excelled at school and was very popular due to his warm personality, and making people laugh with his jokes.  He enjoyed gardening, fishing, picking apples, and was a big brother to all the younger kids in the neighborhood.  He would help them with homework, take them to the playground, and spend his own pocket money buying ice cream from the ice cream truck for those who did not have their own money.

Michael was always respectful of me, his family, and his elders.  He always did his chores and kept his room clean. To this day, he remains close to his two sisters, who miss him desperately.

When my son was arrested for murder, I knew he did not do it.  Michael was not capable of harming another person, let alone taking a life.  He had no history of violence, no reason to kill and never carried a weapon. The victim’s family have not received the justice they deserve either, as the real killer has escaped justice, and my son has instead paid the price, every single day for over a quarter of a century.   

My son’s conviction was based on the word of one eyewitness, who had been diagnosed with a medical condition affecting her eyesight to such an extent that at the time of the murder, her vision was 20/40 in one eye and 20/50 in the other.  The home where the victim was shot was dimly lit and the eyewitness told the police that night that she did not see the face of the suspect, as it was too dark.  She picked my son out in a police photo line-up, purely because he was wearing a hoodie, which is what the shooter was described as wearing the night of the shooting.

My son has missed out on so many things since he was wrongfully convicted – graduations, marriages, deaths, and births.  I am so sad that he has not been around to spend time with his nephews and nieces, or to have a family of his own.

I need Michael to come home and be with his family.  I do not know how long God will have me on this earth and I want to see justice served before he calls me home.  Michael is my one and only son and I miss him so much.

I need all you to PLEASE keep screaming “FREE MIKE CRUMP” so that my son can get the long overdue justice he deserves.
