Cultural Heritage Promotion Through New Design "Pinoy Pride"

The Issue

INTRODUCTION

Literally, Cultural heritage is the legacy of physical artifacts and intangible attributes of a group or society that are inherited from past generations, maintained in the present and preserved for the benefit of future generations. Cultural heritage includes tangible culture such as buildings, monuments, landscapes, books, works of art, and artifacts, intangible culture such as folklore, traditions, language, and knowledge, and natural heritage including culturally significant landscapes, and biodiversity. The deliberate act of keeping cultural heritage from the present for the future is known as preservation or conservation, though these terms may have more specific or technical meaning in the same contexts in the other dialect.

Purpose

Cultural Heritage plays a very important role in our life. It is what keeps us attached to our religion, traditions, & beliefs. It today’s context we refer to cultural identity which means (feeling of) identity of a group or culture, or of an individual as far as he or she is influenced by his belonging to a group or culture. It is necessary to improve awareness of Cultural Heritage and the ethics of its care in study curriculum and to identify tools that can be developed to help communities to better understand and conserve their heritage.

Description

The Philippines are known for having rich and large amount of heritages such as work of arts, houses, mansions, buildings, as well as landscapes, and many more. This is because our country had been colonized by different countries not just in decades but in many centuries, these countries includes Chinese, Japanese, A mericans and also the Spaniards who had left a great impact in our cultures and traditions for they colonized our country for almost three centuries, they left our country with their ancestry and beliefs with us. Most of the people never know that the Philippines are very rich of cultural heritages, we actually had the most diverse culture than anywhere else. We in our group stand in a cause to promote the numerous and the marvelous cultural heritage of our country –the Philippines. Because many Filipinos nowadays didn’t care about our majestic past, and continue to embrace the modern time. It’s important to look back at our past because our past defines who we are and what we are today. If we embrace our past then why not the other people? This action reflects to this phrases “Ang taong di marunong lumingon sa pinanggalingan di makakarating sa paroroonan.”

When we promote a culture, it attracts to the people. Promoting would draw some attention to the people, even though how bad your promotion was. We can promote the cultural heritage our country by contribute to national identity and its cultural value to make the country recognizable and improves the image, Establishing some cultural foundations or organizations, Share some cultures art and technology, Teach them with your ancestral language, Promote the Arts, Music, Foods, Clothes and many more. Spend time with others in the community, Attend or organize some major events, Promote them about the religious tradition. Try to develop programming to promote and to tell people about your/our heritage and culture. Introduce our culture to the people who don't know about it. Talk about it with them. Be an ambassador and give friends gifts from your culture. Start with something small that creates joy, happiness, and lots of love with everyone. We can work also with the youths to promote our cultural heritage. Everyone participates in more than one culture and blend with many ideas and behaviours. Preserve our culture so as to promote it.

Cultural heritage is our country’s identity. It is important because it keeps the our integrity as a people. Losing our cultural heritage is like losing our own self, so to avoid this circumstance we must preserve it.
One of the ways that we can promote our cultural heritage is by using new designs. We must be creative in this advocacy. For the people especially the youth will recognize and help in the preservation of our own culture.
