Abused by the court:

~ By allowing the state public defenders system to routinely fail to give adequate representation to Missouri Defendants

~Falling short of basic constitutional guarantees.

~Inability to represent clients efficiently due to massive caseloads that result in wrongful convictions. 

Missouri House Budget Committee suggests $500,900 to the public defenders office to hire attorneys and $1.1 million for legal assistance. With that budget it would be impossible to recover because they are so far behind. Close to 5000  defendants still on  a waiting list.
