During the COVID-19 pandemic, in order to limit contact between students in dining halls, Villanova University has adopted the use expanded polystyrene (EPS), commonly known as styrofoam, containers for students to receive and consume their meals in. Although convenient, given the quantity of students consuming an estimated three meals per day—all through styrofoam containers—this process is very wasteful and extremely harmful to our environment. In a simple request for Villanova to continue carrying out the value of Ignite Change, we are asking for Villanova Dining to revert back to paper takeaway containers and/or use sustainable packaging campus wide in all dining halls. This change will reduce Villanova's impact on both the natural environment and the communities around us. Thank you for your time and dedication to building a better future.
