Village of Babylon LIRR/MTA Feasibility Study for Housing at Railroad Station

The Issue

The LIRR/MTA is conducting a feasibility study at The Village of Babylon Railroad Station for a proposed housing opportunity. The proposed site is south of the railroad station and across from The Babylon High School.

Operating on a $13 million dollar budget, should the "feasibility study" become a reality, the Village of Babylon would have a revenue loss of approximately $400,000 a year and will greatly impact the Village services.

Babylon Village already is transit oriented and with new developments moving forward on Deer Park Avenue and E. Main Street, there is absolutely no need to pursue development on this parking lot location. Not now.  Not ever.

This "feasibility study" is expected to completed the end of November/ beginning of December.  We ask all our Village of Babylon residents to sign this petition opposing a housing development opportunity at this parking lot location for loss of revenue, the impact to the Village and the services it provides and on behalf of being for quite some time, a transit oriented community!
