Protect Anmore's long-standing semi-rural character and pristine nature for all to enjoy

The Issue

Anmore city council is in the process of considering amendments to the Official Community Plan (OCP) designation for Anmore South, which includes recommending an Urban designation for this special study area.

We feel council has forced Anmore residents during a global pandemic to make a crucial decision about Anmore’s future without residents having an informed and democratic vote.

The majority of Anmore residents feel that they do not want an urban designation because densification will lead to increased traffic congestion, major infrastructure projects and urban sprawl.

Urbanism and densification should happen at transit nodes as opposed to a rural community with ecologically sensitive watersheds supporting vibrant wildlife.

Anmore’s biodiversity will be impacted by the destruction of our forests and wildlife.

We want Anmore to remain “rural”, avoid clear cutting of 150 acres of pristine forests and limit development to single family neighbourhoods that allow for only single-family detached homes.

We want our voices heard, and we are advocating for a binding referendum for the residents of Anmore to determine the future of their community.

Let’s preserve and protect Anmore’s rural character for present and future generations.
