Village Green at Ernie's Gas Station

Village Green at Ernie's Gas Station

Upon learning in mid-February through the Wenatchee World that the Port and Link Transit intend to place both a bus charging station and an incubator business building on the property, several Manson community members met with both organizations to better understand the plan. As a result, additional community members have since gathered to reaffirm a long-standing vision for this site--one that has been in place since 1987.
If the Port and Link proceed with purchasing the Ernie’s Gas Station property, there is no assurance it will be preserved. In contrast, our community group’s proposal ensures the land will be permanently protected as a park and open space. We are pleased to share that private funds have been secured to purchase this property and preserve it as an accessible, community-centered village green. This group of donors consist of experienced professionals with relevant expertise and a clear understanding of the challenges this project presents. The property will be held by the Lake Chelan Community Services Council (a 501c3 nonprofit organization), and would be legally secured with a deed restriction, safeguarding it for future generations.
While we appreciate the Port's and Link Transit's investment in Manson, we are respectfully requesting that they consider an alternative location in Manson for the incubator business and bus charging station. We are eager to work collaboratively with both organizations to identify a suitable parcel that serves their needs while allowing Manson to fulfill its long-standing vision for this key piece of land.
Located at 91 Wapato Way, this site is one of Manson’s most picturesque and significant locations and it is our opportunity to preserve it as a community treasure. Email: villagegreen.manson@gmail.com
