Just had a very productive meeting with Cllrs Robert Bayford & Reece Pugh, Gavin Waite, Director of Operational Services, Stewart Bundy (Health and Safety Compliance Officer) & Helen Kemp Access Thanet regarding the current situation of the lifts at Viking Bay and Ramsgate ( this lift is a very different matter due to its condition hence still closed) we were all pleased that the Viking Bay lift was open at a cost of £17500 to date. It will remain open until the second week of October. However the issue is what will happen next year as our campaign would be for year round access even if only weekends.

Much will depend on a report that will be available to the public towards the end of October giving details regarding costs, structural issues etc. We will then meet again. I must say all of us want Broadstairs to have a lift for the use of everybody, but the issue is cost to TDC and if it can be year round.
