Minutes from the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Halong Bay, there are emaciated bears starving to death. Some are missing limbs, some near blind and others with open wounds, and all starving. These poor animals have been milked for years of their bile in the single cruelest and most inhumane practice on earth called bear bile farming. Four beautiful and majestic bears have recently died a slow and horrible death. I need your help to force the Vietnamese government to allow Animals Asia to rescue the remaining 23 bears from the farm that has imprisoned and tortured them for years.

The Cau Trang Bear Farm was discovered to be home to 27 devastatingly sick bears during an inspection in December 2014 by a team from Animals Asia (www.AnimalsAsia.org). Sadly, since that time, 4 bears have died due to the appalling conditions.
What is bear bile farming and bear bile extraction?
THROUGHOUT CHINA AND VIETNAM, THOUSANDS OF BEARS ARE KEPT ON BEAR BILE FARMS, MOST IN TINY METAL CAGES, SOMETIMES FOR UP TO 30 YEARS (THEIR ENTIRE LIFE) AND "MILKED" REGULARLY FOR THEIR BILE.
Some cages are so small that the bears are unable to turn around or stand on all fours. Some bears are caged as cubs and never released. Most farmed bears are starved, dehydrated and suffer from multiple diseases and malignant tumors that ultimately kill them.
The bile is extracted using various painful, invasive techniques, all of which cause massive infection in the bears. The bile is used in traditional medicine and in every day household products. This cruel practice continues despite the availability of a large number of effective and affordable herbal and synthetic alternatives.
PLEASE HELP SAVE THE REMAINING BEARS!
Last week the Quang Ninh Forest Protection Department reported that four of the bears had died due to the appalling conditions. As the farmer has proven both incapable and unwilling to care for the bears, ANIMALS ASIA has declared themselves ready and willing to bring all the bears back to their sanctuary near Hanoi to give them proper medical attention and, eventually rehabilitate them to live their remaining days at peace within the sanctuary.
I urge you to join me and Animals Asia in calling on Prime Minister Nguyễn Tấn Dũng and the Vietnamese government to force the farmer who has profited for years from these bears to hand over the remaining 23 starving and suffering bears to Animals Asia immediately.
