Many have asked why British judo Association Ltd (the BJA) rejected the application for Joe Glynn to given an honorary 6th Dan grade.
The application was made by his club and along with this petition, unknown to Joe himself. So, shhhhhh not a word to Joe about it!
In the BJA's honorary 6th Dan grade rules it states:
4. The promotions commission recommendation will largely be based on activity since their last promotion.
However, a judoka's complete judo career is taken into account.
When Joe Nunn of Bishops Stortford Judokwai applied himself to be given an honorary 6th Dan grade.
The BJA Board of Directors rejected it due to 10 years not having passed since his last grading.
But within 1 year, the BJA Board of Directors approved his application and he was granted the honoraty 6th Dan grade, well before the 10 years had passed.
While you cannot compare what individuals have done for judo and the BJA.
With Joe Glynn's over 70 years in judo, having coached at club, area and national levels.
Recruited hundreds if not thousands of BJA members and at the age of 92.
Does the word "honorary" have no other meaning than checking rules and regulations?
So please.
Do the right thing today, sign the petition and share it widely with others to sign it as well!
