The alteration to the victorian school year impacts the year 12 cohort of 2020 immensely.  The extension of the year is far from what we as year twelves want and what we think is best for us.

It is no secret that year 12 is stressful and that Coronavirus has undoubtedly increased stress for some of us but this extension to the year is not resolving this issue. The extension of the year is just another road block between us and getting back to normal. As a cohort we want to be able to be relaxing and enjoy our time off before we commit to the next chapter of our education instead of skipping the holiday excitement leading up to Christmas for more stress full testing. 

In many subjects we as a cohort are keeping pace or ahead of our course (with no need to commute many of us have had extra time) this is exacerbated by the fact that content has been dropped from the course to make it shorter and the year extension will only allow for excess time to loose motivation.

Extending the year reduced the presence of an 'even playing field' where more privileged student will see greater rewards in the largely increased time for which no teaching is occurring as all content has been covered in the months after October.

 Please let us finish when we should! Let us move on from this chapter and into the next and let us do so with a break in between. Don’t make us suffer more than we are having to already.
