Support our community and the Golden Plains Wind Farm

The issue

Golden Plains Shire community groups, families and businesses support the Golden Plains Wind Farm and want it to go ahead as planned without further delay.

The wind farm will be the largest in the Southern Hemisphere and will lock in a clean energy future for our community and region.

The wind farm has been stalled yet again by another baseless legal action being led by a complainant that lives 80 km away from our town, which could delay construction by up to two years. This is unacceptable.

This is our Shire and we care more about our environment than anyone. We have been involved in this project for the past eight years and have full confidence in the developer, WestWind Energy. The wind farm has undergone a rigorous Environment Effects Statement process and all environmental and planning concerns have been successfully addressed.

The Golden Plains Wind Farm will put our Shire and our town on the map by making us home to one of the largest wind farms in the country. It will bring significant community benefit with new vital jobs, infrastructure and investment to Rokewood. The wind farm will create an estimated 700 jobs during construction and 70 direct jobs ongoing once completed. Our regional community, like every other in Victoria, sorely need this investment and jobs as we recover from the past two years.

The effects of Climate change are real and our community wants to make a difference. The Golden Plains Wind Farm will power 750,000 homes with clean energy and help Victoria achieve net-zero targets.

This project has already given our community much over the years. It has invested in our school and kindergarten, provided new equipment and improved other facilities to the benefit of all our residents.

Our community is united and strongly invested in this wind farm. We firmly oppose all action to stop or delay it.
