Please make a law against "dog flipping" in Alabama
The Issue
I need your help to fight against animal abuse and dog flipping. I was in a situation recently where I rehomed my puppy for a low fee. She was a yorkie mixed with a bigger dog and the breed is unknown. My daughter loved her and wanted to keep her, but at the time I had a few puppies from the litter left and my home is very small. So, I felt like I needed to find them all a good home. The next day she was on Craigslist for $100 and then later for $150 and advertised as a shorkie.
Since then, I've done my research and it's happening a lot, and getting worse. Dog flippers typically keep the dogs in confined areas with more dogs and give them just enough food and water to keep them alive. A lot of times they end up being dog bait in fights, as research animals, or they go to people who torture and kill animals. Not only that, they are reselling them under false pretenses, claiming the puppies/dogs are something other than what they are and people are getting scammed. They look for free, low fee, or they steal dogs, to make a profit.
I've put warnings out on Craigslist, as Craigslist is a huge source for their scams, but my posts keep getting flagged and removed. I've tried getting the law involved, but I have not heard from them. I'm doing everything I know how to get the word out and put an end to this, or at least let people know to be aware.
There is no law in Alabama that protects these animals from being flipped, although it's still seen as wrong. Also, in a lot of cases, there is proof of our dogs being flipped, including mine. I've talked to quite a few people now who have tried to stop it or have been in similar situations, and no one can get anywhere with it.
I do not want people to quit adopting or finding homes for their pets. People truly want to adopt and truly want to find good homes for their pets. But I do want people to take precautions when adopting/rehoming, like I wish I had done. There are advertisements for spaying and neutering, and that's the best thing to do, but unfortunately things happen and this is still happening.
Can you please join me in making a law against dog flipping in Alabama? It might not stop it completely, but I believe It'll cut down on neglect and abuse and dogs being rehomed over and over.
A lot of people are not aware of this. You really do not know how truly sad it is until it happens to you and your pet. When we find homes for them, we want to know they're in good hands. Thank you for your support.
