The Southern Poverty Law Center identified the Family Research Council as an anti-gay hate group in November 2010 for their “propagation of known falsehoods” about the LGBT community. Yet MSNBC continued to feature leadership from the Family Research Council on their network as if they were legitimate political commentators.
In December, Media Matter’s reported MSNBC had hosted members of Family Research Council 18 times since SPLC identified them as a hate group. On Jan 11, MSNBC gave air time to Family Research Council leader, Tony Perkins, twice without properly identifying them as a known hate group according to the Southern Poverty Law Center.
Tony Perkins speaks for one element of the Christian community. He does not represent the breath and depth of Christian thought on human sexuality. His views go beyond a theological disagreement about human sexuality. They are an attack on the rights of members of the LGBT community their right to life, liberty and pursuit of happiness.
It is time MSNBC stopped propagating the falsehoods of the Family Research Council by giving them airtime. Sign my petition now to send a strong message to MSNBC that we tired of seeing hate on their network.
