Student halls for the homeless

Student halls for the homeless
The Issue
Fellow citizens,
With the number of overseas students remaining in their home countries there will be an abundance of student halls of residence remaining dormant in the coming months, maybe years in cities around the UK, indeed the US and Aus. Yet, there we have a problem which has not disappeared- homelessness.
There must be thousands of rooms destined for students which are empty and universities as agents of society have a moral obligation to- must help.
Due to measures to combat C-19, life has changed and the economy is at a point stagnation. Therefore, it is not surprising that on the 21st April, The Guardian has reported that councils around Heathrow are seeing a rise in rough sleepers (https://www.theguardian.com/society/2020/apr/21/rise-in-people-sleeping-rough-at-heathrow-as-councils-fail-to-provide-accommodation It cannot only be councils around Heathrow. Homeless is a national problem, especially in major cities- cities which contain universities, most of which have student accommodation provisions.
Today, I ask for your support, nothing is impossible- the will and desire need to be there. So universities in the UK, please open up your vacant halls of residences for those in need. Please sign and share.
Thank you.
