Save the University of Hull Direct Benefit Pension Scheme
The Issue
We, the undersigned, call upon the University of Hull to enter into meaningful pensions negotiations with their recognised trade unions, their regional officers and pensions experts.
We reject the current proposals to close the Defined Benefits pension scheme. We feel the current pensions system at the University of Hull creates a two tier pensions system for staff; unfairly treating lower paid support staff.
Closing the Direct Benefits scheme and moving everyone to a Defined Contribution scheme exacerbates this.
We feel that the university should consider the disparity between academic and support staff pensions more closely and look to bring support staff up to a more equitable position.
