Enough is Enough: Cancel Vh1 Reality Shows

The Issue

Enough is Enough! It is time to end VH1 reality shows, specifically the Love & Hip Hop franchise, Black Ink Crew, and Basketball Wives. These shows rely on nothing but exploitation of African-Americans, especially African-American women. The behavior in these shows is deplorable and served to reinforce stereotypes. It is time that we as a community say enough is enough to this type of low class programming.

All these shows have the same formula. They all center around the cast arguing, fighting, and cheating with vulgar language and personal problems that have nothing to do with music, tattooing, or basketball. They all have spin-offs and a new spin-off of Black Ink Crew is coming out in August. Let's stop it before it airs. Love & Hip Hop's latest incarnation came out last year in January. The original show titled Love & Hip Hop: New York is responsible for the career of the artist Cardi B who is transphobic and has been accused of drugging and robbing men.

These type of people should not be on TV. A significant amount of young people watch these shows, but we need to show them that they deserve better than regurgitated stereotypes. They do not need to poison their minds with this poor excuse for entertainment. That's why we need to pressure VH1 and Viacom to cancel these shows.
