Veto HB 947 - Say NO to proposed parking garage!

The Issue

HB 947 which was unanimously passed in the House and Senate and will allow a parking garage to be built in Holmes Beach, circumventing the city's ability to review, comment, and permit a 400,000 SF structure that will be at the main gateway of our city. In addition to the 550 open, clearly marked parking spaces available, and the 225 open spaces on the street, there are 405 parking spaces readily available to visitors that are unknown to most - this parking includes the parking lots of the Church of the Anunciation, St. Bernard's, Anna Maria Elementary, and City Hall. A parking garage will take away from the small charm of our beautiful island. No environmental impact or study to determine the traffic impact has or will be performed. This bill is also an attack on our Home Rule and if not vetoed, it could be the beginning of the end for Anna Mara Island as we know it. Please sign and share this with your friends - time is running out for DeSantis to veto this bill.

In addition, please email or call Governor Ron DeSantis at 850-717-9337 or governorron.desantis@eog.myflorida.com. You can also reach out to the Lt. Governor at ltgovernorjeanette.nunez@eog.myflorida.com.
