Why this petition matters

Started by Michael LeBlanc

We are proposing a Vert Halfpipe be built at Brennan Park for the BMX and SKATEBOARD COMMUNITIES. With Skateboarding and BMX making their  debut at the 2020 Olympics, and the fact that Squamish has a world class mountain bike community and houses some of the most talented bikers in the world, as well as one of the best skateboard communities in Canada. Also both sports continue to grow yearly by about 14%.  It makes perfect sense to make a Vert Ramp that both the BMX and Skateboard community can benefit from.
There’s a tremendous amount of interest in both sports for girls and boys alike. Both these sports are a benefit to our community as all ages, and genders are welcome alike.

There is ample space at Brennan Park next to Skateboard park, between soccer fields, beginner BMX pump track, Skateboard park and BMX race race track. Making this the perfect environment for both these ever evolving sports to merge together in one area to help our own sports community grow and progress. At the same time a Vert Ramp will attract out of town riders on a national level and international level. Making And keeping  Squamish as one of north Americas top recreational destinations and most importantly it will be a safe and fun place for our community to grow and elevate there skills.
