Verizon Wireless

The Issue

One of these technologies is the Android and iPhone's FaceTime app which Apple just announced will be available to all iPhone users on the mobile network -- instead of just on Wifi. However, when I heard that Verizon Wireless is forcing me with my close friend and millions of other deaf individuals to pay for an expensive unlimited voice and there no unlimited data plan (which they will never use) FaceTime app, I was outraged! Verizon Wireless need special offer on behalf of deaf people who have rights to use FaceTime, Text Messages, Email, and Sorenson VRS “telecommunications” etc. on and on for Unlimited text and Unlimited Data Plan. The benefits of FaceTime for me and other members of the deaf community cannot be overstated. FaceTime allows the use of video chat on the go. In emergency situations where texting isn't an option or there's no Wifi available, mobile FaceTime could be a lifesaver. By forcing their deaf and hard-of-hearing customers to purchase an expensive plan they don't need, Verizon Wireless is basically charging deaf customers for being disabled. I am very disappoint Verizon Wireless haven’t heard or didn’t support Relay Services should have come up called Verizon Wireless Relay Services. I am glad Sprint support Relay Services for the deaf community and deaf culture but how Verizon Wireless not care about deaf people or haven’t think of that should done long time a ago.

Moreover, the Net Neutrality rules of the Federal Communications Committee (FCC) prohibit mobile operators like Verizon Wireless from blocking applications that compete with their voice and video telephony services. Verizon Wireless blocking of FaceTime does exactly that.

Please join me in telling Verizon Wireless to stop discriminating against the deaf community by making them pay for a service they will never use. This is not about abusing the system, but keeping a fundamental right to be able to communicate with each other at anytime, anywhere.
